Educational Ceramic Fun

Artworks Pottery Painting Tours offers students the opportunity to see how earthenware clay transforms into a glazed piece of pottery and to enjoy a hands-on, pottery painting experience.

Creative 2-hour event

The Artworks 2 hour school tour event begins with a demonstration of the different stages of ceramics including an explanation of different clays and how they are transformed in the glazing and firing process. The teacher then demonstrates some decorating and painting techniques using sponges, brushes and seasonal stencils which the visitors can adapt for their own pottery piece.

Visitors are then ready to take their seats in the main studio to paint their own plate. Artworks staff are on-hand to provide assistance and ideas to the artists throughout the process.
At the end of each workshop we have a short exhibition of all the completed pieces. The plates are then glazed and fired and delivered to the school within a week.

Apart from the pleasure of receiving back their own personalised plate as a unique souvenir, every visitor is presented with an Artworks Pottery Painting Certificate inscribed with their name on the day of the tour.

Cost: €12.50 per visitor.
